Reflection

” When did you enter my mirror?

I can neither see nor grasp

Your reflection in the restless waters.

Hours since, people have gathered

On the front verandah.

The sun has already buried his face

In the evening pillow.

I look for the old silk costume

Of a pala – singer.

In an old wooden chest

I search for dark cymbals, ear rings.

I want to adorn my body,

Paint my face,

But where is the time?

I am yet to confront my failures

People are gone, hours since.

You promised

To come again.

I wait on the river bank.

Stars blink over my head

Below, the dawn breaks.

My shadow in the water

Grows unfamiliar.

When did you enter my mirror? “

Yeah excellent imagery…am glad you like the blog Zara, and thanks for all the comments and sharing, as i say all are welcome to take what they want to out of this space

These words…they are not mine Rohit…but of Bishnu, an Oriya poet.
