Reflection
2008 October 12
” When did you enter my mirror?
I can neither see nor grasp
Your reflection in the restless waters.
Hours since, people have gathered
On the front verandah.
The sun has already buried his face
In the evening pillow.
I look for the old silk costume
Of a pala – singer.
In an old wooden chest
I search for dark cymbals, ear rings.
I want to adorn my body,
Paint my face,
But where is the time?
I am yet to confront my failures
People are gone, hours since.
You promised
To come again.
I wait on the river bank.
Stars blink over my head
Below, the dawn breaks.
My shadow in the water
Grows unfamiliar.
When did you enter my mirror? “
But what can one do ? reflections happen and then they unhappen.what can one do but wonder.

These words…they are not mine Rohit…but of Bishnu, an Oriya poet.
the image, . . . it fades away,
joy of joys, my stainless mirror, you had never left me
now, after all these years, i can rest . . . ahhh
